Tuesdays at 2 - 4pm
hoot are joining in with the Woven Festival, a celebration of textiles across Kirklees. We will visit Oakwell Hal in Birstalll to look at The Red Dress exhibition, which was initiated by British artist Kirstie Macleod to help marginalised women around tell their stories through stitching. The dress now features the work of more than 300 embroiderers from 51 countries and has been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide.
As a group, you will work alongside hoot artist Sally Barker, to make your own individual textile piece, using simple sewing and applique techniques, exploring your own ideas about what you like and things that are important in your life. We will attach everyone's pieces to a large denim jacket, which will be displayed in one of the pop up shops in Dewsbury town centre. We will encourage visitors to try it on!
